I sat down with solo pianist, composer, and educator Robin Spielberg to talk about her garden: a lush, 20-year-old haven in southern York County, PA filled with flowering perennials, native plants, and ornamental treasures. Robin walked me through her landscape and shared the deep connections between her creative work and the natural world she cultivates.
The full conversation runs about an hour, so I've divided it into two parts. This is part one.
In our chat, Robin reflects on the purpose of gardening, the role of beauty in daily life, and the importance of creating habitat for native plants, pollinators, and wildlife. She also shares a clever method for keeping blooms going year-round and offers a window into how her garden shapes her amazing music.
If you’d like to learn more about Robin and listen to her work, you can do so here.
I loved this conversation, and I hope you enjoy it too.
Happy gardening!
